CBD Oil for Neuropathy: How You Can Get Relief

More than 20 million individuals in the United States suffer from some kind of neuropathy. Many of these people don't even realize they have it.

Do you suffer from neuropathy? Or, do you know someone who does?

If you're not satisfied with conventional remedies, or if you want to try using a complementary tool to enhance the effectiveness of these remedies, you might want to try using CBD (cannabidiol) oil.

Never heard of CBD oil? Not sure what it is or how it works?

Read on to learn more about CBD and the benefits of CBD oil for neuropathy.

What is Neuropathy?

Neuropathy is a form of nerve damage.

It often occurs in individuals who suffer from diabetes. It can also affect those who have suffered severe physical injuries, as well as those with autoimmune diseases, hormonal imbalances, or vascular diseases.

Neuropathy mainly affects the peripheral nerves. These are the nerves that connect the brain and spinal cord to the rest of the body.

When these nerves are damaged, it is hard for them to transfer messages from the brain to other parts of the body (and back again from parts of the body to the brain).

Neuropathy Symptoms

As a result, individuals who suffer from neuropathy may experience a variety of symptoms, including numbness or a painful tingling sensation.

Diabetic neuropathy can also affect the following aspects of the body:

Anyone can develop neuropathy. Those who smoke cigarettes, have high blood pressure, abuse alcohol, or have a family history of neuropathy are more likely to experience it, though.

What is CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a plant compound found in cannabis and hemp plants. CBD does not have any mind-altering effects, unlike THC, another well-known plant compound.

CBD does offer a variety of health benefits, though. It has been used to help manage symptoms related to many conditions, including anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, and digestive disorders.

What is CBD Oil?

CBD oil is one of the most popular methods of administering CBD. It is comprised of CBD (as an isolate or alongside other plant compounds) and a carrier oil like coconut oil or MCT oil.

Sometimes, CBD oil will also contain flavoring, such as peppermint extract or essential oil, to mask the taste of the CBD.

Benefits of CBD Oil for Neuropathy

Many people rave about the benefits of CBD oil, and it can be a very helpful tool for those who suffer from neuropathy.

The following are some of the most well-known benefits of CBD oil to manage neuropathy:

Reduces Pain and Inflammation

One of the greatest benefits of CBD is its pain-relieving properties. CBD does a great job of reducing pain and inflammation in folks with all kinds of issues, including neuropathy. Many people combine it with other pain-relievers, but some use it alone in lieu of traditional pain-relieving methods.

Improves Mobility

Neuropathy can make it very hard for individuals to move around normally. This can have a seriously negative impact on their quality of life. Many people find that, when they introduce CBD oil into the equation, their pain lessens and their mobility improves.

Improves Sleep

Poor sleep can make pain worse. Pain can also keep people awake and prevent them from getting the rest they need to heal. It's a double-edged sword.

CBD oil can help minimize pain and, in turn, make it easier for folks with neuropathy to get to sleep. It can also help them fall asleep more easily, which can help reduce their pain.

Improves Mental Well-Being

Finally, CBD oil can help to reduce feelings of depression and anxiety in individuals suffering from neuropathy and other chronic illnesses.

Not only can it be used to improve one's quality of life, but it may also improve the mood and help those with neuropathy feel happier and more at ease.

Why Use CBD Oil for Neuropathy?

As you can see, there are benefits that come with using CBD oil to manage neuropathy symptoms. Why should someone choose CBD oil over other options, though?

There are a lot of medications out there that are used to treat neuropathy. Unfortunately many of them are less-than-effective for many. They may also have unpleasant side effects, including nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, and digestive disorders.

CBD oil does not come with the same negative side effects. In fact, it has very few side effects.

CBD oil also is not habit-forming in the same way that many other solutions can be. The body does not develop a tolerance to CBD, so there's no need to continually increase your dosage.

How to Use CBD Oil

If you're using CBD oil, the best way to consume it is to place it under your tongue.

Allow it to sit under the tongue for a minute or two and be absorbed by the capillaries below the tongue before you swallow it. This helps you absorb the CBD faster and experience its effects more quickly.

CBD Oil Serving Sizes

When you're first starting to use CBD oil, it's best to start with a small amount. Five to ten milligrams is fine for most people to start with. If, after a week or so, you're not experiencing improvements, you can try increasing or decreasing your amount taken a little bit.

CBD and Schizophrenia: Everything You Need to Know

Today, 46 states, as well as the District of Columbia, have passed some degree of medical cannabis laws.

CBD is an important medicinal compound of cannabis. In fact, recent research on CBD and schizophrenia has shown a lot of promise.

CBD oil may be one of the safest and most effective options for assisting with the symptoms of schizophrenia. It's not yet an approved alternative to traditional pharmaceutical medication that has undesirable side effects.

To learn more about CBD oil and it's relationship with potential schizophrenia therapies, keep reading.

What is CBD?

The cannabis sativa plant contains over 104 chemical compounds that we know of. Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the more well-known and researched of these cannabinoids.

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is another cannabinoid found in cannabis. THC is well known for its psychoactive properties. THC is the cannabinoid responsible for getting you high when you smoke marijuana.

CBD isn't a psychoactive compound. It shares many of the same properties of THC, and a lot of other exclusive health benefits, but without the sensation of getting high.

This is partly why CBD is such a desirable substance. It offers all the benefits of THC without any of the feelings of getting high.

For patients with schizophrenia, avoiding the psychoactive properties is of special importance. They can actually exacerbate psychotic episodes.

What is CBD Oil?

CBD oil is an extract from the form of the cannabis sativa plant that is CBD dominant (i.e the hemp plant). Oil can be derived from flowers, stalks, and leaves of the plant. Sometimes, it's diluted with a carrier oil.

How Does CBD Oil Work?

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a regulatory system in our bodies. The system consists of endocannabinoid compounds that are naturally produced by our body as well as receptors.

The ECS extends throughout our body. It goes from the mammalian part of our brain to the central and peripheral nervous systems. It's also in the organs, glands, and our immune cells.

The endocannabinoid system helps our body achieve homeostasis. This refers to an internal balance that includes sleep, pain, immune system response, appetite, and even mood.

Your body produces endocannabinoids. These neurotransmitters bind to tiny protein receptor and stimulate them out chemical signals. But the compounds found in cannabis can also interact with that system and positively affect it.

It can ease the discomfort caused by a number of different acute and chronic health issues. It also offers a natural alternative for various symptoms and negates the needs to involve opioids or more dangerous, habit-forming drugs.

CBD and Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a mental illness that falls under the psychotic disorder spectrum. Schizophrenia patients experience distortions in thinking that are severe and debilitating. They may have hallucinations, depression, and difficulty engaging in social activities.

Cognitive Symptoms

Schizophrenia has both positive, negative and cognitive symptoms. These range widely from individual to individual.

The conventional medications for schizophrenia aim to control positive symptoms like hallucinations. But this type of treatment doesn't work as well on cognitive and negative symptoms.

Studies show that CBD may be able help with cognitive symptoms.

Psychotic Episode Symptoms

Cannabis with high-CBD concentrations leads to fewer psychotic episodes for many schizophrenia patients. Studies demonstrated this effect in both animals and healthy volunteers. In this capacity, CBD can assist schizophrenia patients to gain back their sense of reality and, ultimately, their lives.

How Does it Work?

We won't know the benefits of CBD and schizophrenia without larger, randomized clinical trials. This will help scientists better understand how it should be used for various conditions.

Research also provides insight into exactly how CBD works with our bodies to produce such benefits. For now, researchers have some ideas as to how CBD works.

The ECS we discussed early regulates emotions, sleep, reward processing, and many other elements that are needed for internal balance. And, technically, the ECS produces its own cannabis-like compounds in the form of naturally produced cannabinoids.

You can think of the ECS as its own antipsychotic system. Because its aim is to achieve internal balance, the ECS has a large impact on our mental health. CBD essentially supplements your natural cannabinoids with those derived from the cannabis plant.

Alternative to Other Treatment

There are pharmaceutical treatments for schizophrenia that can help a person live a more normal life. However, they often carry undesirable side effects.

These include muscle spasms, tremors, restlessness, drowsiness, and dizziness. But they may also cause physiological effects such as metabolic changes, weight gain, and high cholesterol.

CBD has not yet proved itself to be an effective, safe, and well-tolerated therapeutic option for many of the symptoms of schizophrenia, though this study is a great start. It is, however, a natural option with little to no side effects or associated risks.

Are You Considering CBD Care?

The research shows that the relationship between CBD and schizophrenia is a positive one. CBD shows promise in assisting with both the cognitive symptoms of the illness as well as the psychotic episodes. Best of all, it's well-tolerated by most individuals.

Does CBD Oil Help With Stress Relief?

CBD is currently an $813 million business. But does it help with stress or anxiety?

In this post, we'll take a critical look at CBD oil for stress and discuss what we know and what we don't thus far.

If you've ever been curious about CBD oil and how it could help manage your stress, read on.

What Is CBD Oil?

If you're new to the CBD thing, you might be confused as to what CBD oil actually is. Many newbies wonder if it is the same thing as marijuana and whether it will get them high or not. But don't worry, we can break it down.

CBD, or cannabidiol, comes from the same plant family as marijuana, known as cannabis, but they aren't one and the same. Instead, CBD oil comes from a type of cannabis called hemp, while marijuana comes from cannabis marijuana plants.

Marijuana plants naturally have a compound in it known as tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC. This is what gives users the "high" effect that some people crave. While this may be present in some medical marijuana, it is absent in most hemp derived CBD products.

In fact, hemp products sold to the general public cannot contain enough THC to give you the "high sensation."

CBD oil is derived from the cannabidiol inside of a hemp plant. Manufacturers create an oil that can be used in a variety of ways to possibly help with a variety of ailments and issues.

How Do You Take CBD Oil For Anxiety and Stress?

CBD oil is very easily administered. You can purchase it in a bottle with a dropper and put drops of CBD under your tongue a couple of times a day. CBD oil is also sold in gummies, edibles, as pills and can be vaped or smoked.

It is up to you how you choose to consume CBD oil, and there is no right or wrong way.

Can You Become Addicted to CBD Oil?

Some anti-anxiety medications are known to create dependency. If your stress becomes so bad that you need to seek a medical professional, you may find yourself leaving with a prescription for a benzodiazepine like Xanax or Valium. If taken over a long-term period, this can create dependency and addiction.

While research on CBD oil is still in its infancy, there is no current research to suggest that CBD oil can create dependency. This is why it is an attractive alternative for some people seeking relief from stress and anxiety symptoms.

CBD Oil for Stress and Anxiety: Does It Really Work?

In 2010, a study on CBD oil and social anxiety suggested that taking the oil can help reduce symptoms.

This study was done on patients with known social anxiety disorders, not knowing if they were taking a placebo or pills with CBD in them. In what is known as a double-blind experiment, the researchers directly participating and recording data were not aware of who had taken CBD and who had taken placebos either.

In this study, researchers found that CBD oil did have an effect on lowering social anxiety. The study, however, was small and examination as to whether CBD oil can conclusively help social anxiety will need further study.

A similar 2011 study found that individuals who took CBD before public speaking experienced less anxiety than those who took placebos. But, again, research is not yet conclusive.

CBD oil was also found to be possibly effective for a child who suffered from PTSD-induced insomnia in a 2016 study. This child, who was unable to previously fall asleep or stay asleep, was able to maintain a restful period for a longer time. However, as this study only focused on one child, it is not conclusive.

What Else Might CBD Oil Help With?

The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has recently approved a drug with CBD to help with some forms of childhood epilepsy. At the moment, the medication is only for children who suffer from Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome and Dravet Syndrome. The medication, called Epidiolex, is thus far the only medication containing CBD that is FDA approved.

Other medical studies suggest that CBD might be able to help with inflammation from arthritis and other illnesses. Inflammation may be a cause of stress, which could, in turn, help with individuals who are looking for something to help them relax.

CBD may also help with chronic pain, which can, in turn, help relieve some individual's stress. The CBD oil could work to improve chronic pain by reducing inflammation in the body, as mentioned above. According to Harvard University's Medical School, CBD oil may also help with neuropathic pain, which is very difficult for doctors to treat.

Since those who suffer from stress also may deal with insomnia, CBD oil might also help them fall asleep and stay asleep. This can contribute to a more restful sleep, which may make waking hours more bearable during times of stress.

Should I Use CBD Oil to Treat My Stress or Anxiety?

At the moment, CBD oil is not FDA approved to treat stress nor anxiety. But, many studies certainly point to it possibly being a useful tool in managing it.

The FDA relaxed some of the tough laws it had on cannabis in 2015, giving way to allow more scientific research to be done. Currently, we're only just beginning to understand everything it can do for us.

CBD Oil: Why It's Great for Gut and Digestive Health

Do you, like more than 30 million Americans, suffer from poor digestion?

Do you regularly experience issues like acid reflux, heartburn, or abdominal pain? Have you been diagnosed with a condition like Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis?

If you've been struggling with poor digestion and have not found relief after trying other remedies, you may want to consider taking a more natural approach by giving CBD (cannabidiol) a try.

Read on to learn more about the benefits of CBD for digestive health.

What is CBD?

Never heard of CBD before?

These days, many people are lauding it as something of a miracle drug. People all over the country (and the world) use it on a regular basis to help with symptoms related to everything from insomnia to Parkinson's disease.

What actually is CBD, though?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a plant compound (also known as a cannabinoid) that is found in the cannabis plant.

Cannabidiol offers many of the same medicinal benefits as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). But, unlike THC, CBD does bring about any mind-altering in effects. In other words, it will not get you "high" when you consume it.

How Does CBD Work?

CBD and THC have different effects because they function differently within the body.

The body actually has its own cannabinoid receptors and endocannabinoid system. It naturally produces its own cannabinoids (known as endocannabinoids).

THC binds directly to the CB1 cannabinoid receptors, which are found primarily in the brain and spinal cord. This is what causes the mind-altering effects most people associate with cannabis consumption.

CBD, on the other hand, does not seem to bind directly to the cannabinoid receptors. Instead, it acts as a reuptake inhibitor and increases the availability of the body's own cannabinoids.

CBD also binds to other receptors in the body, including receptors associated with improved mood and pain modulation.

CBD for Digestive Health

Okay, you're up to speed on what CBD is and how it works. But, why is it a good option for people with poor digestive health?

There are a number of benefits that come with using CBD for proper digestion, including the following:

Reduced Intestinal Inflammation

One of the greatest benefits of CBD is its immune system modulating properties. These properties make it a powerful anti-inflammatory.

CBD reduces inflammation in the intestinal tract, which can promote better digestion and fewer digestive issues (abdominal pain, cramping, etc.).

Reduced Intestinal Spasticity

CBD can also help to relax the intestinal tract and reduce spasms. This, in turn, can provide relief from common digestive issues like cramps, bloating, and diarrhea.

Fewer intestinal spasms also help to promote better intestinal regularity.

Corrected Endocannabinoid Deficiencies

Some research indicates that deficiencies in endocannabinoids have been linked to a variety of conditions, including IBS, celiac disease, and colorectal cancer.

Regular consumption of CBD can help to correct with endocannabinoid deficiencies by preventing their breakdown and prolonging their action.

When the deficiencies are corrected, people struggling with the symptoms associated with these conditions can often find relief.

Relief Without Side Effects

There are many medications that can help people with digestive disorders find relief. But, these medications, in many cases, also come with a variety of unpleasant side effects.

If you want relief without side effects, CBD is a great alternative.

Many people who take CBD on a regular basis do not experience any negative side effects. It's also virtually impossible to overdose on CBD. At worst, you'll probably just feel extra tired afterward.

Reduced Gut Permeability

Many people who suffer from poor digestion also suffer from a condition known as intestinal permeability, or leaky gut.

The digestive tract is lined with a barrier of epithelial cells. Tight junction proteins hold these cells together and control what is allowed to pass through the epithelial cells.

When the gut is functioning properly, the tight junction proteins allow nutrients to pass through and keep harmful substances out.

When the gut is inflamed and the tight junctions become permeable, they start to let harmful substances in. This, in turn, can damage the gut microbiota and lead to poor digestion (and a variety of other health conditions).

Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, CBD does a great job of helping to heal the gut and seal the tight junctions to only allow nutrients to get through.

Reduced Stress and Anxiety

Chronic stress and anxiety can also play a role in poor digestion. It can even lead to increased intestinal permeability and make digestive symptoms worse.

Many people use CBD products to help them manage their stress and anxiety and increase their resilience. This, in turn, reduces the strain on the digestive tract and allows the gut to heal.

Using CBD for Digestive Health

At this point, you're probably at least a little more interested in using CBD oil to help manage your digestive issues. But, how do you use it?

Keep these tips in mind to make sure you're consuming the right dosage of CBD and taking it in a way that helps you experience all its benefits:

This last point is especially important. If a manufacturer pays to have their product tested by an independent lab, this is a good sign that they prioritize quality and are dedicated to putting out the best product possible.

Boosting Your Brain: How CBD Can Improve Your Brain Health

The marijuana market is worth $55 billion. As new states legalize its use for medicine, recreation or both, most believe it will continue to grow.

One of the chemicals undergoing scrutiny for potential benefits is CBD. Because CBD may have neurological benefits.

While serving sizes and full effectiveness have yet to be determined, studies appear promising. Potential benefits include anti-anxiety, anti-stress, and a sleep aid.

Many of the studies tested effects on animals and not humans. Keep in mind, while those tests look good, they cannot make a definite correlation yet.

Keep reading to learn a bit more about the positive effects CBD may have on brain health.

Most people are familiar with the chemical THC. This chemical, when metabolized and absorbed by the brain creates a high. CBD, while also present in marijuana, doesn't cause a person to get high.

The buds of the marijuana plant contain high amounts of THC. However, when seeking CBD, you want the stems and seeds of the hemp plant.

The distinction between marijuana and hemp lies in THC content. To classify a plant as hemp, it must have less than 0.3% THC. At that low amount, no one could possibly get high.

One final note, you can buy CBD oil over the counter anywhere in the US. But this has a very low percentage of actual CBD in it. If you take it, you may not notice any benefit.

Sleeping Aid

This article won't get into the infinitely complex workings of the human brain. But you should understand some terms. Nerve cells, known as neurons, don't actually touch one another.

Neurons send chemicals across space between cells. One side sends and the other side receives. The spot which receives them is called a receptor.

With that in mind, CBD binds to receptor sites that caffeine also binds to. When caffeine binds there, it wakes you up in the morning. When CBD binds to these sites, the brain slows and provides the user with deep and restful sleep.

While only anecdotal, this seems promising as a sleep aid. Serving size, though, varies by a wide margin from person to person and situation to situation.

Brain Health

Anxiety, stress, and depression plague our society. CBD may provide aid in one of the most important areas of brain health, that of mental health. It does this because of the way it interacts with the serotonin system.

Every other week some news article comes out relating mental health to some problem. Whether the news blows things up or not, intuition seems to confirm this problem.

CBD may not fire a magic bullet at all mental health problems. But the evidence points to anxiolytic properties. Anxiolytics ease symptoms associated with anxiety, depression, and stress.

If researchers prove this connection, it could be applied all over.

Addiction Treatment

Another system affected by CBD is the dopamine system. One of the biggest issues with drug detox and withdrawal occurs in this system.

Dopamine, put simply, releases as a reward. You crave something sweet and so you eat a bar of chocolate. The brain releases dopamine as a reward for the pleasure of chocolate and sugar.

You start working out and have to buy pants or a dress one size smaller. The brain again releases dopamine to reward your efforts toward a goal.

This release of dopamine builds your motivation to workout again. When you use drugs, the brain releases dopamine as a reward. Occasional use allows the brain to return to normal.

Long term use changes the effect of dopamine. After heavy, regular use, the brain requires drugs to produce dopamine at all.

CBD can aid the dopamine system in returning to a balance. This would allow the brain to produce it as a natural response to eating, drinking, etc.

Helping the Hippocampus

Another area of brain health which may receive benefits from CBD is the hippocampus. The hippocampus governs the formation of new memories, affects emotional response and aids in spatial awareness.

Everyone has walked into another room and then forgotten why they went there. That's the hippocampus failing to do its job.

And the reason you have such a hard time remembering? The hippocampus didn't send that short term memory over to another area to become long-term.

This explanation oversimplifies the actions of the brain, but time and space have limits.

CBD may help the brain build new neurons in the hippocampus. With this increase in size, would come improved memory. It would also aid in emotional regulations.

Someone with poor spatial reasoning might benefit from this enlargement also. You won't become an expert map reader or suddenly master chess.

But you might be able to find your way around easier. Or you may make new connections between locations.

Degenerative Brain Disorders

Anything that helps brain health also looks at their effects on Alzheimers and Parkinson's. At this time, CBD holds some hope of protecting healthy brain cells.

But very little testing has been done on repairing damaged cells.

The Jury is... Still Out

So far, CBD holds some promise of boosting overall brain health. Even if all it ever managed to prove was a sleep aid and anxiolytic, thousands would benefit.

In the meantime, research will continue. Also, in a few years marijuana will probably be legalized in the US. After that happens, research will happen at a faster pace.

CBD Oil and Chemotherapy: A Guide for Cancer Patients

Cancer patients about to begin chemotherapy should strongly consider taking cannabidiols. Cannabidiol (CBD) oil has proven an effective supplement to chemotherapy. It both lessens chemotherapy's intense side effects and improves the effectiveness in general.

A recent study shows that mice treated with both CBD oil and chemotherapy survived almost 3x longer than chemotherapy alone. This study aligns with others conducted within the last 10 years as CBD oil has become a more accepted alternative product.

Learn how CBD and chemotherapy work to provide cancer patients with relief below.

CBD Oil and Chemotherapy: 5 Awesome Benefits of CBD

Chemotherapy kills cancer cells. However, it also subjects patients to severe side effects. Things like fatigue, nausea, vomiting, body pain, emotional changes, and more.

Taking CBD oil during chemotherapy lessen many symptoms that interrupt a cancer patient's life. Here are 5 proven benefits of CBD oil for cancer patients.

1. Reducing Nociceptive and Neuropathic Pain

Both of the most well-known compounds in cannabis, CBD and THC, prove effective pain relievers. They decrease pain related to migraines, cancer, and spasticity. They also help with neuropathy other chronic pain and acute pain conditions as well.

CBD and THC relieve pain by interacting with the body's endocannabinoid system. The two main cannabinoid receptors, are CB1 and CB2. They regulate the release of immune cells in the central nervous system and neurotransmitters. CBD and THC interact with these to help manage pain levels.

Many modern studies exist that prove how cannabis relieves pain associated with a variety of diseases. It also helps with nociceptive pain as well as neuropathic pain.

Nociceptive pain refers to the continual activation of pain receptors on the surface or within the body's deep tissue. It's most often associated with inflammation. And it occurs in people with diseases like fibromyalgia, HIV/AIDs, and cancer.

Neuropathic pain refers to pain caused by permanent changes to the nervous system. Such as in the aftermath of an injury.

Surprisingly, cannabis helps other chronic pain symptoms with no known pain reliever. It also relieves neuropathic and nociceptive pain without side effects common to opioids.

It can help with problems like nausea, vomiting, constipation, and addiction.

2. Minimize Nausea and Vomiting

Nausea and vomiting are the symptoms most commonly associated with chemotherapy. Those feelings originate in the same place in the brain, the postrema area of the dorsal vagal complex (DVC). The DVC responds to the body's natural hormones. It tells the digestive system whether it should suppress or stimulate appetite.

The endocannabinoid system regulates many of the body's processes including this one. It uses chemicals and cannabinoids to stimulate a response. The similar cannabinoids found in CBD oil are vital to this system and keeping the body balanced.

Research shows that parts of the brain involved making you feel nauseated, like the DVC, contain CB1 receptors. The cannabinoids in THC and CBD oil bind to these receptors and suppress nausea or vomiting. They block the receptors so the other chemicals that induce nausea and vomiting cannot bind to them.

So taking CBD oil during chemotherapy greatly reduces nausea and vomiting.

3. Preventing Weight Loss by Stimulating Appetite

As stated above, cannabinoids in THC and CBD oil bind to the receptors in the brain that stimulate appetite. THC offers a stronger appetite-promoting effect. But CBD also helps to manage appetite on the whole.

The endocannabinoid system regulates many of our body's intricate systems, like food intake. So using cannabinoids to balance this system makes sense.

Chemotherapy kills a patient's appetite through nausea and suppressing the appetite itself. Taking CBD oil during chemotherapy motivates patients to eat more food. It also helps better regulate their appetite throughout the day.

4. Reducing Inflammation and Swelling

Chemotherapy causes inflammation and swelling. These make patients feel uncomfortable and increase their overall pain level.

Inflammation does well when it helps protect the body from foreign threats. But chemotherapy and autoimmune disorders trigger inflammation when it is not necessary. These cases of chronic inflammation force the immune system to damage the body's own tissue.

Research shows that cannabinoids may help suppress this unnecessary inflammatory response. It does so by using a variety of mechanisms.

Cannabinoids reduce the number of cytokines. These immune system proteins invite white blood cells to infection sites can cause inflammation. They increase the number of Tregs (T-regulatory cells) that help prevent autoimmune disorders.

Cannabinoids also promote the death of dendritic and T cells, which play a large role in inflammation. They limit the activity of fatty acid amidohydrolase. This then boosts production of anandamide, an anti-inflammatory endocannabinoid.

They also increase the concentration of local hormones called eicosanoids. These signaling molecules draw out inflammation.

Finally, cannabinoids help the body recover from immune-based damage. They promote healthy regulation and encourage suppression when necessary to aid in the recovery.

5. Promoting Emotional Well-Being

Last, CBD oil promotes emotional stability and a patient's well being during chemotherapy. This difficult and painful experience causes many patients to suffer from anxiety and depression. They don't know if the treatment will work and their body feels like it's dying along the way.

Taking CBD oil during chemotherapy makes it easier for patients to control their feelings of depression and anxiety. These feelings usually originate when there's an imbalance in serotonin levels in the brain.

This is why physicians prescribe SSRIs to increase the availability of serotonin. SSRI stands for selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. The more serotonin available means more to transmit into the brain, which in turn reduces anxiety and enhances mood.

CBD offers a similar effect to these SSRIs by enhancing the transmission of 5-HT1A in the brain. Research suggests it may even affect the serotonin receptors faster and with fewer negative side effects.

Cannabis also helps to regenerate neurons in the hippocampus and increase neuroplasticity. These are two proven causes of depression and suicidal thoughts.

How Long Do CBD Patches Last?

You've heard of CBD popping up in products from gummies to gel capsules. Derived from the marijuana plant, it's becoming a mainstream approach to pain management. No wonder it's on its way to hit annual sales of $1 billion by the year 2020.

But what about the patch? This newer alternative boasts all the same benefits of relaxation and relief, but with a few extra perks.

Read on for how CBD patches can help manage your pain and what to expect when wearing one.

How Does CBD Offer Pain Relief?

CBD is one of the many cannabis compounds found in hemp plants. Yet, it's continuing to get a great deal of attention from the medical industry. As it has the power to reduce pain without health risks or side effects.

This means CBD works without producing any feelings of a high that come from THC products. So, it's safe to use at work or while operating a vehicle.

This also makes CBD a great all-natural alternative for athletes. As it helps with pain, muscle recovery, and improved focus.

How Do CBD Patches Work?

CBD patches for pain can help relieve both surface injuries and internal pains. The patch looks like a bandaid or nicotine patch yet contains a specific amount of CBD. When placed on your skin, it uses body heat to absorb the cannabinoid into your system.

It's best to place the patch on a part of your body that contains plenty of veins and blood vessels, like the foot or wrist. This helps the CBD travel to the bloodstream in a more efficient way.

The patch is different than other CBD products as it focuses on placing the CBD onto your skin. This method provides different benefits than ingesting or inhaling CBD into your body.

Transdermal CBD patches work well because they do not enter into the digestive or respiratory systems. Meaning the CBD does not get broken down by other parts of the body, like your stomach, liver, or lungs. This happens when you consume edibles, pills, and oils or smoke or vape THC products.

With patches, you're getting the full concentrated quantity of CBD. None of the CBD's strength or medicinal properties get lost through the process.

Managing Your Pain with the Patch

The CBD topical patch works to provide relief throughout the entire body. Yet, it can also help to target specific areas of pain. Patches can even penetrate further than CBD lotions and salves.

Patches can provide pain relief for the following conditions:

Wearing a patch can also help reduce inflammation. It also works to strengthen your immune system to help fight disease and illness.

CBD Offers Much More Than Pain Relief

CBD patches and products also help people improve their mental health and wellbeing. CBD also works to balance hormones and stabilize moods. It can provide relief from anxiety, depression, and even bipolar disorder.

Wearing a patch can also improve the following:

CBD is even showing great promise for cancer research and development. Recent studies show it may be able to help reduce cancer cell growth.

How Long Do They Last?

Hemp patches adhere right onto your skin. This allows users for a quick and easy application for pain relief. So no need to have vape pens or dabbers on hand.

They are discreet and small in size, about 2x2 inches. So, you can barely feel or see them on your skin.

The effects are not as instant as smoking cannabinoid products. Yet, shouldn't take longer than 30 minutes to set in. Transdermal patches also offer effects that last longer than other CBD products.

The patch works by providing a controlled supply of CBD, that works throughout the day. This provides a consistent flow of CBD in a reliable, effective and timely delivery.

It's a long-term alternative to pain relief as the CBD gets administered in a slow cycle, rather than all at once. This keeps the patch working for 8 to 12 hours on average.

You're also able to pick your exact amount of CBD. With 10 to 20 mg being the most popular strengths. You can follow these tips to determine your proper serving.

Patches also get preferred as a way to find relief while you sleep. So you won't have to wake up and take another round in the middle of the night.

How Are CBD Products Changing the Medical Industry?

CBD products have seen a spike in sales as people seek natural alternatives to medicine. A variety of cannabis patches for sale are showing up in many local and online dispensaries. They also come in different sized sets, for short-term to long-term use.

CBD provides relief without the side effects that come from prescriptions and OTC drugs. NSAIDs come with health risks of their own. This includes liver damage, increased blood pressure, and heart disease.

With CBD, you can use one patch or product to help with a variety of symptoms. So there's less need to mix medications and experience unwanted side effects from it.

CBD is even helping those who suffer from addiction to painkillers, like opioids. These medications come with serious side effects like addiction and overdose. The only side effects of CBD products include slight dry mouth.

The benefits of CBD products are even impacting the beauty industry. CBD is helping people to combat acne and wrinkles for younger looking skin. Check out this list of CBD beauty products to try.

CBD Pain Relief: Picking the Right Patches and Products

CBD patches offer an all-natural alternative to pain relief, with a variety of products on the market. Yet, it's important to note that not all products get made the same. Be sure to do your research ahead of time so that you're buying from a quality and reputable brand.

Pick products that use cannabis strains that are high in CBD, rather than THC. This also ensures the CBD concentration is consistent. This way you have more control over your serving.

Patches should be free from latex to avoid allergic reactions. They should also use safe adhesives and hypoallergenic materials. To find the relief you need, check out the full collection of CBD products here.

CBD Oil for Bipolar Disorder: 8 Need to Know Facts

Approximately 2.8 percent of adults in the U.S. were diagnosed with bipolar disorder in the last year. And 4.4 percent of adults are likely to experience bipolar disorder at some point during their lives.

If you have bipolar disorder and have tried other treatment options to no avail, you might want to consider giving CBD (or cannabidiol) oil a try. You may also want to recommend it to a friend or loved one who has bipolar disorder.

Read on to learn some important facts about the benefits of CBD oil for bipolar disorder.

What Is CBD Oil?

CBD is a compound that is found in the cannabis plant. It’s a non-psychoactive compound, meaning that it will not get you “high” when you consume it.

Over the last few years, researchers have discovered a variety of benefits of CBD oil. They have found it can be used to help sufferers of everything from epilepsy and seizure disorders to asthma.

CBD oil is typically made by combining CBD that has been extracted from the cannabis sativa plant with a carrier oil like coconut oil, olive oil, or MCT oil. Sometimes, the oil is also flavored with essential oils.

Things to Know about CBD Oil for Bipolar Disorder

The following are eight essential facts that people with bipolar disorder need to know about using CBD oil to manage their symptoms.

1. CBD Promotes Stable Mood Levels

The results of one federally funded study found that CBD can dramatically improve and stabilize mood in people with bipolar disorder.

All 133 participants in the study experienced consistent energy and mood levels after consuming 100 milligrams of CBD each day for several weeks.

The researchers also had the participants take neurological tests at the end of the study. The results of those tests showed that the participants experienced improvements in their attention, executive functioning, verbal fluency, and logical-memory recall after they consumed CBD on a daily basis.

2. CBD Balances Hormones and Neurotransmitters

Another study also showed that regular CBD consumption also helped reduce symptoms of depression. It did this by influencing the body’s levels of cortical serotonin and glutamate.

CBD also influences the 5-HT1A receptors. These are serotonin receptors that are involved in the mechanism of action of a variety of antipsychotic, antidepressant, and anxiolytic medications.

The study also found that CBD could reduce the symptoms of psychosis in patients with bipolar disorder and other psychiatric disorders.

3. CBD Has Neuroprotective Properties

CBD also has neuroprotective properties. These neuroprotective properties include shielding the cells of the brain from oxidative stress and damage caused by free radicals.

Many researchers believe that this damage can contribute to the development of bipolar disorder.

4. CBD Can Help Relieve Stress

Many people also find that regular CBD consumption can help them manage their stress. Stress is an underlying factor in anxiety disorders, and it can also exacerbate the symptoms of other mental illnesses, including bipolar disorder.

Stressful situations — job losses, breakups, financial strain, etc. — cause a variety of physiological changes in the body. They cause changes in heart rate, blood pressure, and the production of cortisol and other hormones. All of these changes throw the body out of balance and can trigger manic episodes.

CBD helps with stress management by working with the body’s endocannabinoid system to balance hormones and promote feelings of calmness.

5. CBD Can Promote Better Sleep

Poor sleep can also lead to mood imbalances, impaired cognitive function, and make bipolar disorder (and other psychiatric disorders) worse. This is because sleep deprivation is a form of stress on the body, and it can throw off hormone levels and other physiological processes.

CBD improves sleep in the same way that it helps with stress management. It works with the endocannabinoid system to promote relaxation and balance the hormones that are responsible for regulating sleep and wakefulness.

6. CBD Can Help You Navigate Your Triggers

Because CBD helps with stress management, people who use it regularly often feel more grounded and in control of situations in their lives.

These feelings of control help them create space between stressful situation and their reactions. This, in turn, can help people with bipolar disorder identify and navigate their triggers to reduce the impact they have on the mood.

7. CBD Has Antipsychotic Properties

CBD also has a variety of antipsychotic properties. Its effects on the body are similar to the effects that many popular antipsychotic drugs have.

Some people with bipolar disorder worry about using cannabis and cannabis-infused products. This concern stems from some research that indicates cannabis can trigger psychotic episodes.

If you’re part of this group and are worried about the effects of cannabis, keep in mind that it is only THC, another cannabinoid, that has been shown to trigger psychosis. CBD, on the other hand, appears to mitigate the potentially negative effects of THC.

If you’re using CBD oil or a strain of cannabis with a high CBD content, the chances of it making your symptoms worse are very slim.

8. CBD Comes with Minimal Side Effects

Finally, CBD provides effects similar to other antipsychotic drugs, but it does not come with the unpleasant side effects associated with these traditional drugs.

Some of the most common side effects associated with antipsychotic drugs include:

Long-term use of these medications can also cause people to develop a condition known as tardive dyskinesia. This condition triggers involuntary muscle movements, typically around the mouth.

CBD, on the other hand, does not come with any side effects, with the exception of drowsiness when it’s consumed in large doses.

CBD Oil for Autism: 8 Things You Should Know

Recent research places cannabis as one of the most versatile plants on the planet. People find benefit in essentially every part of the plant for everything including recreational, beauty, and medicinal purposes.

Because of the benefits that keep surfacing, cannabis research also focuses on treating children. Many parents now use CBD oil for autism, to help their children cope.

Using CBD Oil for Autism

Before jumping on board and using a cannabinoid for your child's autism, of course, you want certain questions answered. Read on for 8 things you should know about CBD oil and autism.

1. What Is CBD Oil?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring chemical extracted from the hemp and the marijuana plant. Though hemp is cannabis and in the same family as marijuana, hemp and marijuana differ from one another. CBD is one of 85 cannabinoids discovered in cannabis.

2. Will Using CBD for Autism Make My Child High?

The infamous high comes from a psychoactive compound called THC. CBD, another compound of the plant, differs from this in that it does not produce any psychoactive effects. Unlike THC, which attaches to cannabinoid 1 receptors in the brain that trigger the reward center, CBD attaches to cannabinoid 2 receptors located of immune cells and peripheral nerves.

Due to this, CBD oil will not make your child high.

3. Is CBD Oil Legal to Use in All 50 States?

You may feel concerned about using CBD oil if you live in a state where marijuana is not yet legalized. For this reason, you should know and trust the source of your CBD oil.

As mentioned above, marijuana and hemp come from the same family but are not exactly the same plant. Long before the talk of legalizing marijuana became popular, people used hemp and hemp oil in all sorts of ways. So, CBD from hemp does not affect you legally in most states.

The legality of CBD oil comes into play when it comes from marijuana. The difference lies in the amount of THC contained in the product. Hemp only contains .3% THC, while marijuana contains 10%, so the CBD oil can contain various amounts depending on the source.

To err on the side of caution, you should obtain a medical prescription before buying CBD for autism, as medical marijuana puts you at less legal risk. Unfortunately, if you live in Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska or South Dakota, then using any CBD oil for any purpose is 100% illegal.

4. Why Use CBD Oil for Autism?

Research shows a promising future that CBD oil works for epileptic children, especially with the FDA approval of Epidiolex. Autism affects the brain similarly to the way seizure disorders affect the brain, therefore making scientists wonder if it could help children with autism in the same way.

Though CBD cannot cure Autism or any of the spectrum disorders, its properties can significantly help the children who live with it. One research study on using CBD for autism revealed that the oil helped decrease behavioral issues in 80%, improved communication with 50% and decreased anxiety in 40% of the treated children.

5. What is the Best CBD Oil for Autism?

Though the answer is not clear-cut, you should choose a trusted brand that provides a pure product to get the best CBD oil. Everyone's body works a little differently, making it tough to say the one that will work best for you and your child.

Do keep in mind the method of delivery. While a vape product may get great reviews and is fast acting, you may not want your child vaping. Finding capsules or drops for children who find swallowing pills difficult may be more your style. You can get creative and add it to a favorite food or drink to help with the administration.

6. What is the Hemp Oil Dosage for a Child?

Most medications you give your little one come with a clear dosage chart on the back. Unfortunately, the FDA has not approve it for the treatment of autism, so the dosage for CBD oil does not come clear on the package as it would for an approved medication.

The serving size for CBD depends on several factors including height, weight, metabolic rate, and what you are trying to accomplish. Click here for recommended serving sizes. Though research suggests this amount, you should still consult your child's pediatrician for a more accurate recommendation, as well as proper supervision during that process.

7. Does Health Insurance Help Cover the Cost?

Though many states recognize medical marijuana and CBD oil as legal, the Federal Government does not as of yet, and with this most insurance plans will not cover the cost of CBD oil.

Knowing the benefits of CBD for children with autism, this is a hard pill to swallow. You may find writing to your state's legislator helpful in changing the law and possibly putting you in the right direction to find help with this.

8. Is It Safe?

CBD oil not only provides you with a safe option for your child, it could be a safer option than most alternative medications. As with any natural or pharmaceutical remedy, CBD oil does come with some minor side effects.

The side effects of CBD oil include:

At least one in six Americans is dealing with weight loss issues and many more than that spend time worrying about their weight. As we've learned over the years fad diets, cleanses, and shortcuts won't get you anything but a trip to the hospital. However, adding an extract like CBD oil for weight loss can be a big help to supplement healthy habits and better choices.

If you've heard about CBD and want to get to know more about what it can do for your weight loss journey, check out our guide below.

Getting To Know CBD

There are more than 100 different cannabinoid compounds in hemp and marijuana that give them their special characteristics. The two that you hear the most about are THC and CBD. THC is the compound that causes psychoactive changes while CBD is more closely connected to physiological effects.

When you consume CBD, you won't get the same feeling of being "high" that you get from consuming THC. What CBD can do in the human body is to help regulate the body's own "endocannabinoid" system.

Your body produces cannabinoids which help fuel metabolism linked to inflammation, digestion, and the separation of antioxidants.

Your body's receptors use CBD to help activate cannabinoid receptors and boost the performance of metabolism and to create some level of stasis in your body.

There Are Several Ways it Helps Weight Loss

CBD has a lot of beneficial medicinal uses that can be helpful no matter what your health status is. If you're specifically looking to lose weight, you might find some of the particulars of CBD interesting.

If your weight loss regimen entails a lot of hard and intense workouts, using marijuana might not be your first choice to make it easier. However, you'd be surprised by how many of CBD's anti-inflammatory benefits could be right for you. If you're dealing with muscle soreness after a workout, having a strong and natural anti-inflammatory added to your post-gym smoothie could help you recover faster.

If you're dealing with depression, whether or not its related to your weight issues, working out and eating better are certainly ways to improve your mood. If you need an extra lift to get out of that rut, CBD is a known anti-depressant. While it relieves pain and inflammation, it can also relieve anxiety and help you see the brighter side of things.

How CBD Works

While THC, that compound which results in the feeling of being high after ingesting marijuana, has a commonly held effect of increasing your appetite, CBD is different. CBD has the ability to suppress your appetite and can reduce food consumption to help you stay away from unhealthy snacks.

Your body has fat genes and proteins that help you to break down and oxidize fats. With their help, you can process calories and put them to use rather than letting them turn into fat. As your body burns more calories, its instinct is to feed that fire and you can see your calorie burn accelerate as you burn more.

Fat cells in your body take on the identity of being "white colored" fats or brown and beige colored fats. Your body's white colored fats will be the ones that will store energy while the brown fats will be the ones to burn the fat. CBD helps aid your body in this process by turning more of your white colored fats brown, amplifying your body's ability to burn fat.

CBD isn't yet considered an essential nutrient and studies on it are hindered by the legal status of marijuana itself. However, as a few studies have shown, it can help you to control your weight and could soon be considered an essential nutrient.

How To Start Using it

Your first step in getting on the path to making CBD a part of your life is, of course, to talk to your doctor. They know your health situation the best and can safely recommend any changes that you want to make to your medication. They'll be able to provide insight into drug interactions and will know when and how much CBD is safe for you.

Next, you should start off slow. Never jump into a new medication at the highest potential dose for you. Start off with taking a smaller dosage so that you can ease into taking it and know whether or not its good for you.

Once you start using that recommended dosage, don't climb incrementally on a daily basis. Stay at each level for about a week so that your body can adjust. This way you can ensure that the nutrients are mixing well with other medications and that your body likes the effects.

Don't increase beyond your doctor's recommendations for no reason. If you're feeling good, don't assume that more will make you feel better. Listen to your doctor, report how CBD has made you feel, and then go through the process of slowly increasing your dosage if you need to.

Any time that you make a change to your regular routine or your medication, it can take weeks or even a month to feel the impact. If you're adding something like CBD to your life on a daily basis, give your body some time to deal with the changes. Around 30 days is the typical period of time it can take for you to feel the difference.
